How Does Temperature Affect The Rate Of Photosynthsis Of A Mauna Loa Supreme Leaf. Aspect 1: Defining the problem and selecting the variables. Background Information: Temperature is one of the factors that affect the rate of photosynthesis of a plant. The rate of photosynthesis in relation to temperature forms a bell curve.

Abstract This experiment was conducted in order to see if the temperature of an environment has an effect on the rate at which the plants in that environment perform photosynthesis. Two trials were held. one with the leaves at room temperature and one with the leaves at a temperature of 35o C (95o F).

At the optimum temperature. the enzyme is most efficient and the rate if maximum. At temperatures above 40°C the rate slows down. This is because the enzymes involved in the chemical reactions of photosynthesis are temperature sensitive and destroyed (denatured) at higher temperatures.

Before starting my investigation on how temperature affects the rate of photosynthesis I carried out some research into photosynthesis. From this initial research I made a prediction based on the evidence that I found about the enzyme rubisco that is used in the dark stages of photosynthesis. and also on the limiting factors of light intensity. carbon dioxide concentration and temperature.

  1. Write a problem question to test effect of temperature. 2. Write a hypothesis for the relationship between temperature (10. 15. and 40 degrees) and photosynthesis rate (as measured by O2 bubble output). 3. Design and run an experiment to test the effect of temperature change on photosynthesis. Be sure to keep all your
  2. Temperature and light intensity are two main factors that affect photosynthesis. In this the experiment. the spinach leaves undergoing photosynthesis showed how the rate of distance of the light and the temperature of the water affected the rate of photosynthesis.

  4. In this lab investigation. you will explore how two different environmental conditions affect how quickly photosynthesis takes place within a plant. You will then develop a conceptual model that explains why. Your Task Design a series of experiments to determine how temperature and light intensity affect the rate of photosynthesis in spinach. Then develop a conceptual model that explains why . . .
